On June 16, The School of MSE convened an expert review meeting for the initial member selection of the newly founded Center for Frontier Basic Research. Inviting distinguished academicians and experts from prestigious universities across the country, the meeting successfully completed the center’s first talent recruitment, solidifying the talent foundation for the school’s frontier basic research development.
Dedicated to advancing original innovation and high-level disciplinary development, the Center aims to empower young researchers to explore uncharted fields of basic science. It will provide targeted support for long-cycle, high-risk and transformative fundamental studies, foster a free and open academic atmosphere, and cultivate high-impact original achievements to further strengthen the school’s leading edge in mechanical engineering.
The meeting was presided over by Zhang Fen, Secretary of the School of MSE. Yin Zhouping, Dean of the School, presented the overall layout and strategic positioning of the center.
The review panel comprises ten authoritative experts from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beihang University and Hunan University. The experts fully recognized the significance of the center’s establishment for boosting original innovation and disciplinary upgrading. They confirmed that the standardized and rigorous selection process has recruited a group of promising young academic backbones, injecting sustained vitality into the school’s long-term basic research development.
