January 30, 2026 – Elsevier released the 2025 list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers". A total of 126 scholars from HUST made the list this year, ranking the 6th among all universities on the list. In the discipline of Mechanical Engineering, 143 scholars from universities across China were selected, among whom 5 are faculty members of MSE, namely Gao Liang, Li Li, Shen Weiming, Huang Yongan and Yang Jixiang.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that Gao Liang and Li Li have been included in the list, the fifth consecutive year for Shen Weiming, and the second consecutive year for Huang Yongan and Yang Jixiang.
Based on Scopus, the world's authoritative citation and indexing database, as the statistical source of Chinese scholars' research achievements, the list adopts the methodology developed by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy to analyze the research performance of Chinese scholars. First launched in 2015, this is its 12th release. It has become one of the key benchmarks for measuring the academic influence of institutions and garnered high attention from numerous media outlets and scholars both at home and abroad.
