It has been an unbelievable experience in HUST; AI Robot Summer School. There were plenty of lectures as well as so many interesting lectures, as well as hands-on activities that gave me the technical edge.

Lectures as well as hands-on practical lessons being held

As a Singaporean, I have always been immerse with Chinese Culture. However, the cultural experience with HUST has been phenomenal. With classes that was allocated based on our profiency in Chinese, we were gaining experience that was very unique, and I had an eye-opening experience interacting with the teachers, as well as the students conducting these workshops. For instance, I did not know there are various styles of painting fans, as well as the fact that caligraphy is so diverse and different; the one that I wrote is more of a cursive style.

Food

The food was also extremely delicious! From the roasted skewers(串肉)to the morning noodles (热干面), I enjoyed the food so much that I have gained 2 kilograms within 2 weeks!

Other Journeys

Aside from being in Wuhan, we have also visited Yi Chang(宜昌)during the weekends! We visited the Three Gorges Dams(長江三峽), the Qing Jiang Hua lang (清江画廊), and san xia tribe (三峡人家).

This marked a pivotal role in my trip as I got to catch a glimpse of the China’s engineering marvel, coupled with its ability to maintain serenity through her natural beauty.

Epilogue

There is a saying about Wuhan: “我心向往黄鹤楼”; I would yearn for the Yellow Crane Tower. Looking back at all the experiences that I have had, it would be “我心所向,唯有华科“; my heart will only yearn for HUST.

A huge thank you to HUST-MSE, as well as the Chinese Scholarship Council for the invite to this summer programme! Despite the hot weather, I had tremendous fun; From translating on behalf of the speaker in one of the talks, to interacting with both my fellow peers as well as the student volunteers.  I cannot wait for my next trip to China!
